Monday, February 26, 2024 Any and all students who will be enrolled in a band, orchestra, or choir class in the SCHS Music Department for the 2024-2025 school year are invited to audition for our annual Music Booster Scholarships! Our Boosters have multiple scholarships to award that can be used for any events that will enhance musical skills such as private music lessons, summer music camps outside of those provided by the school (such as Blue Lake or Interlochen). The Concert Band will perform immediately after school on Thursday, March 7th. The Symphony Band will perform on Saturday, March 9th at 8:50am. The Wind Ensemble will be performing twice- once as a band and again to join with our string orchestra to perform as a full Symphony Orchestra. The Wind Ensemble's first performance will be at 10:55am on Saturday, March 9th. The Symphony Orchestra performance will also be on Saturday, March 9th, at 2pm. Detroit Summer Jazz Workshop The Detroit Summer Jazz Workshop is currently accepting applications for our July 8-12 2024 instrumental workshop at the MSU Center and vocal camp at Music Hall, both in Midtown Detroit. Concert Ensembles (CB, SB, WE) Winter Concert: December 19, 2023 Our SCHS Bands Winter Concert is coming up on Tuesday, December 19th. Students will need to arrive at 5:30pm for a combined rehearsal/set the stage prior to our concert beginning at 7:00pm. If you have RSVPed to join us, you are also invited to our rehearsal at 5:30pm to play through Sleigh Ride together and review some details prior to our grand finale. We hope you'll attend! We will also have an afterglow immediately following our Winter Concert performance. Each band family is asked to bring one nut-free treat to share for this event. Treats can be dropped off in the Auditorium Lobby prior to students needing to report for our rehearsal at 5:30pm. All Wind Ensemble students are excused from their 4-6th hours in order to perform on this day. Wind Ensemble members need to bring their Concert Blacks for this performance.
