A band is only as strong as the community that surrounds it.
At Stoney Creek, we are very thankful to have a strong community that supports our students and arts programs by providing many different performance opportunities for our musicians. However, to remain strong and continue providing these incredible experiences for our students, we need a LOT of help! The best part about volunteering is the opportunity to see your student (and a huge group of their friends) come together and create something truly memorable and meaningful. Parents, guardians, grandparents are all welcome to come and hear all of the wonderful things their kids are doing in band-- come be a part of the great things happening on the field, on the stage, and in the classroom!
Many hands make light work- and have more fun!

Here are some of the ways you can help:
Marching Band Registration/School Year Band Registration: Help set up tables, taking care of assigned station, & tear down.
Uniform Room Marching Band/Indoor Band: Help fit students with their uniforms and if comfortable, assist in minor alterations.
Band Camp Loading/Unloading: Volunteers are needed to load a truck with all the instruments as well as all of the donations brought in by parents. Loading is usually scheduled for the Friday/Weekend of our Band Camp Departure. Help is also needed to unload the truck the afternoon camp is completed.
Band Camp Chaperones: Travel with the students for a half week or full week to camp. Sleep in the cabins with approximately 12 kids and support the band director with group activities as needed.
Photography: Help take pictures for media programs, posters, banners, and at our many events.
Overnight Chaperones (generally travel on a bi-annual schedule): Travel with students on special, overnight performance opportunities. Our next anticipated trip will be to Hawaii in 2021!
Performance Loading & Unloading: Work with chairperson to load trucks with instruments and help unload if required.
Bus Chaperones: Chaperone on the buses to and from performances. Keep order in the buses.
Football Games: Help mark reserved stands for band at football games as well as assist in handing out water and apples after halftime show for home and away games.
Post-Concert After Glows: Set up tables for deserts and drinks to be put out for after the concerts, as well as tear down and clean up. Serve drinks and make sure snacks are out and served to the concert attendees and students.
Marching Band End of Season Concert Celebration: Assist in setting up and distributing awards to students along with setting up/tearing down tables and refreshments.
Spring Band Banquet: Help with chairperson set up the Senior portion of the banquet. Some will help with the sign up and seating, others with items needed to provide a great experience for the students.
Food/Drink/Supply Donations: For almost all of the above events, we will have a sign up for parents to bring in drinks, snacks, supplies.
State Solo and Ensemble: All hands on deck! This event has been a Stoney Creek Bands tradition for years and is a great source of pride for our program as we host hundreds of young musicians from over 30 area schools as they perform for the opportunity to be invited to the top performing arts honor in the state: Michigan Youth Arts Festival. In order to help this event run smoothly, we need every student (and every parent) to help! If everyone is able to help for even just a few hours, this event will be successful!
