A hearty welcome and welcome back to all our SCHS Band Students as we embark upon a new school year! Please be sure to read this update thoroughly, as it contains important information regarding both our Concert Ensembles and Marching Band for the start of the year and the weeks beyond.
SCHS Bands Parent Kick-Off Booster Meeting Our SCHS Music Boosters will be hosting a parent kick-off meeting for the school year on Monday, September 13th at 8pm in the SCHS Auditorium. All SCHS Bands students (Concert Ensembles & Marching Band) should plan on having at least one adult attend. At this meeting, parents will have the opportunity to learn about all the different events happening throughout the school year in the SCHS Music Department. Thank you in advance for attending, learning, and helping to make SCHS Bands a great community for our student musicians! MSBOA All-State Band Audition Information The first of many great MSBOA performance opportunities available for concert ensemble students in the 2021-22 school year is auditions for the All-State Bands and Orchestras. These ensembles, consisting of students from across the state of Michigan selected by blind audition, will be invited to rehearse and perform in Grand Rapids at the Michigan Music Conference in January 2022. Detroit Pistons Showcase Performance The Cougar MB has once again been invited back to Little Caesar's Arena, this time to perform on the court at the invitation of the Detroit Pistons. An official date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed with the Pistons (likely November). Parent Volunteers Needed! It takes many hands throughout our season to help our events run smoothly. Thank you all for an amazing week of music, memories, and incredible team work. As we transition back home to Stoney Creek, we have a few important updates and reminders:
TODAY, Monday, August 9th: We will be rehearsing at SCHS from 10:30am-1pm. First order of business is to unpack our trailer before making our way to the stadium field for rehearsal. All students will need to help. We are looking for additional adults to help- if you are available, please join us at 10:30 in the auditorium parking lot/loading dock! Seniors will also be taking their portrait pictures for posters beginning at 11am. Saturday, August 14th: Blue & Gold Scrimmage Our timeline for the Blue & Gold Scrimmage has been confirmed and can be found by clicking this link. Calendar Update! A new date has been added to our calendar! All three RCS Marching Bands have been asked to perform on the afternoon of August 24th for our district kick-off. This added date (as well as the link to our Blue & Gold Timeline) have been added to our calendar. Please click link to see our updated calendar throughout the season.
