The SCHS Music Boosters are looking for help to build 4 air filters before February 8, to be ready upon our return to making music in the band room. We are seeking volunteers to donate parts and volunteers to pick up the parts and assemble these easy, DIY filters. Semester Grade Deadline: All Work Due Wednesday, January 13th All of our final assignments for the semester (Jazz Solo Transcription, Composition Project, etc.) in addition to any missing/late work is due on Wednesday, January 13th. You/your student is encouraged to submit any work prior to this deadline to ensure it is accounted for semester report cards. Student Leadership Meeting: Thursday, January 14th at 2:30pm Our Student Leadership Council/Committees will begin meeting in preparation for second semester this coming Thursday at 2:30pm. As we look ahead to 2021, we have much more music to make. Our next Primary Instrument Work (PIW) Unit will focus on Solo Literature. Students who elect to participate in MSBOA Solo & Ensemble are encouraged to use their PIW work for Solo & Ensemble without needing to find a second piece. Also, students electing to participate in MSBOA Solo & Ensemble will have a number of PIW assignments waived/exempted to focus more fully on preparing and performing for their Solo & Ensemble experience. If you/your student wishes to participate in Solo & Ensemble, more information can be found below. Anyone needing assistance in finding a solo is also encouraged to ask Mrs. Staniszewski for assistance as soon as possible. Concert Band, Symphony Band, and Wind Ensemble will continue working on and completing our Chamber Music Composition projects. The final products (PDFs, all parts, files, and audio) will be due on Friday, January 15th. Jazz Band will continue working on their Solo Transcription Projects. Final performances and written transcriptions will be due on Wednesday, January 13th. MSBOA Solo & Ensemble 2021 MSBOA will be holding a Virtual Solo & Ensemble for this year. Instrument Supplies & Repairs Update During the MDHHS closure, RCS Music has made arrangements for students needing repairs to have them done at Annie's Music. Instruments can be dropped there at any time and A&G Central Music will provide 2-day turn around repairs. We hope to resume our RCS Repair Nights, health conditions allowing.
