All high school brass players are invited to this special event that takes place in the afternoon and evening. The event is free and open to all brass players grades 9-12! Jazz Band Congratulations to the Cougar Jazz Band on their performance at State Jazz Festival this week! The Cougar Jazz Band next meets on Monday, April 11th from 5-8pm, as we welcome Jesse Elder from Postmodern Jukebox to play with us in preparation for our BIG performance on Tuesday, April 12th at Music Hall! Please note: we will not be rehearsing Monday, April 4th (our return from Spring Break), and there are no more AM rehearsals. For this special performance, we will be performing along side the Adams and Rochester HS Jazz Bands, and the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra. We will also be world premiering Jesse's big band arrangement of Pink Floyd's "Money" for this event -- be sure to invite all your friends and family for a night of memorable music in an incredible venue! There is a $20/person cover charge for this performance. Student performers will not need to pay the cover fee. Cougar Marching Band Percussion Workshops Those interested in joining the percussion section (front ensemble or drumline) for the Cougar Marching Band are invited to attend our percussion workshops on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 on April 14, 21, 28, and May 5. Participating students are asked to bring a drum pad and sticks to the first date on April 14th. ALL percussionists looking to play with the Cougar Marching Band in the fall are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to attend these workshops. Drumline auditions will be held as a part of these workshop dates. Bell covers are still highly recommended for directional instruments particularly (brass; trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, etc.) If not utilized, it is advised that families/students store musicians masks and bell covers in a safe place should they ever be required again and to avoid needing to purchase them a second time.
