MSU Double Reed Instrument Day Experience a full day of Double Reeds at Michigan State University Saturday, November 5, 2016, 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., MSU Music Building Michigan State University oboe and bassoon professors Jan Eberle and Michael Kroth invite you to attend a day of master classes, workshops, vendors and a double reed choir. Workshop topics include fundamentals, tonguing and audition strategies. A fee of just $10 will also include lunch and refreshments. Open to oboists and bassoonists, family/friends, band directors and music lovers of all kinds. Vendors will be on the premises for double reed products and display. This event will take place the afternoon of Thursday, October 6, 2016. We will host a meet and greet for students to mingle with their prospective sections before rehearsal. Students will then get to watch a regular rehearsal, followed by a question and answer session with current band members and directors. Finally, students will be invited to join members of our Honorary Band Service Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, for dinner at Brody cafeteria (please remind them to bring about $10 for the cafeteria if they choose to stay). Here they will be encouraged to ask questions relating to band, college life, or staying involved in music after high school. Please see the attached flyer for more details!
The brass faculty at Michigan State University is hosting a special day for brass students on October 22, called Top Brass. It is designed for more serious brass students wanting to learn how to play in a brass ensemble. It does require a 3-minute audition/audio file to be sent in by October 7th. Players will receive notification as soon as their audio file has been received by MSU. For more information, please see the flyer below.
