We have another BIG week of performances this week-- Our Concert Ensembles have their first concerts on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as the Cougar MB has their final home game/senior night performance with special guests, the Rochester Falcon Marching Band! Please click the link here to see where we still need some assistance! Concert Ensembles Fall Concerts: All of our band classes have their first performances this week! Concert and Symphony Band will be performing on Wednesday night's Fall Concert, and Wind Ensemble will be performing Thursday night. Call time for all ensembles is 6:30pm, in concert dress, in the band room. Performances will begin at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Your concert uniform will be available for pick up from the hanging racks in the band room on Monday. Solo & Ensemble Registration: S/E deadline is fast approaching! Those students who elected to participate in Solo & Ensemble will need to make sure they turn in their registration forms and fees! (Forms can be found here.) Please turn in only ONE form and ONE payment per event. Each form and payment needs to be enclosed in a labeled envelope and submitted to Mr. DeRubeis in the band office no later than October 26th! Large Chamber Ensembles: Brass and WW ensemble music has arrived! If you have not already done so, please be sure to pick up your parts from Mr. DeRubeis, as well as pay your $7 registration fee to Ishpreet K. SCHS Bands to NYC 2017! The Stoney Creek HS Band Program was selected by Manhattan Concert Productions to perform at Carnegie Hall on Monday, April 10th, 2017! This is a very prestigious opportunity for our students, as well as a great opportunity to travel to NYC and have a great time with the band! If you have not yet registered for this trip and would like to do so, please see Mrs. Staniszewski for itinerary and registration information. There is limited space still available! Nov 11: Breaking Winds Quartet performance at Adams HS (9:00-11:30am; excused at 9am to return to class for 5th hour) Dec 9: 5th Grade Concert (Wind Ensemble only, during school day) Dec 14: Winter Band Concert Marching Band This Week's Rehearsals: Monday night 10/17, 6-9pm and THURSDAY morning, 10/20, 6:15-7:15am.(Morning rehearsal for next week will be held on THURSDAY, Oct 20 instead of Wednesday, Oct 19. Changing the rehearsal to Thursday instead of Wednesday allows everyone to get some sleep prior to testing/seniors to sleep in, while also giving us the extra hour on Thursday we still need to prepare Cheerleader for Friday's game with RHS.) Upcoming Performances: (Click links for each event's timeline): Oct 21: Home Game /Senior Night vs. RHS (Regular pre-game, Urban & Cheerleader at half) Nov 20*: Red Wings Performance *Please note: Bus transportation for the Red Wings is available ONLY for those students NOT attending the game after performing. Also, there will be NO truck for this performance (much like Arts & Apples). Dec 4: Rochester XMas Parade (Timeline TBD) Concerts & Opportunities The Rochester Community Concert Band, conducted by Mr. DeRubeis is performing their fall concert in the Stoney Creek High School auditorium on Tuesday, October 18 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free, but donations are gratefully accepted at the door. MSBOA District 4 HS Honors Bands: The District 4 MSBOA Honors Bands are now accepting director nominations! The event will take place at Waterford Kettering HS on January 6 and 7, 2017, and will feature guest conductors Ken Thompson (Concert Band I), and Damien Crutcher (Concert Band II). Students will be selected from the pool of those nominated based on past Solo & Ensemble ratings in addition to director recommendation. The participation fee (which covers shirt, meals, mailings, guest directors stipends, etc.) is $60/student, if selected. This is a great opportunity to work with some fantastic conductors and students from other schools in our area! If you would like to be nominated, please let Mr. DeRubeis or Mrs. Staniszewski know no later than Monday, October 31st. GVSU Band Day: The Mu Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and the Laker Marching Band invite YOU to the annual GVSU High School Band Day on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 as the Lakers of Grand Valley take on the Oilers of the University of Findlay! The show is a Halloween theme that includes the GVSU Laker Marching Band and Band Day participants wearing their own costumes or band uniform.Come take a tour of the Allendale campus and be apart of the action with the National Championship Laker Football Team as the 2016 GVSU Band Day musicians perform in a powerful mass band with the GVSU "Pride of the Midwest!"
