Congratulations to Nick A., Ishpreet K., and Michael X. on your performances with the MSBOA District 4 Honors Bands this past weekend! Great job representing SCHS in this great musical experience!
We have a BIG week ahead, anticipating Solo & Ensemble festival at Brighton HS this coming Friday and Saturday. Here is all the details and more for this week: Marching Band Survey To avoid conflicts with the start of the fall sports season, research is underway to explore alternative schedules for band camp. While the current plan is still to remain at the same site and dates as last year, we want to be inclusive of all of our multi-talented students and their commitments outside the band. To reiterate, nothing has changed; rather, this poll is purely an effort to collect data from our group. If you have not yet already done so, please take one minute to complete the survey to help us determine our next steps. Marching Band Camp Survey Concert Ensembles Large Chamber Ensembles: Our final rehearsals prior to performing this weekend will be held this week! Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Scholarship Auditions: January 13, 2017 A representative from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp will be visiting SCHS on Friday, January 13th to hold merit scholarship auditions for Summer 2017. We have had a number of students earn a great deal in scholarship funds from these auditions in the past, as well has have a wonderful summer music camp experience! More information regarding the program offerings at BLFAC as well as the scholarships can be found in the following documents as well as their website: bluelake.org. Auditioning for a scholarship is in no way a commitment to attending the camp, therefore, all students are highly encouraged to audition and see how much of a scholarship they can earn before committing to attend. blue_lake_audition_announcement.pdf blue_lake_merit_scholarship_application.pdf blue_lake_permission_to_audition.pdf blue_lake_scholarship_checklist.pdf blue_merit_financial_need_scholarship_application.pdf District 4 MSBOA Solo & Ensemble: Friday and Saturday, January 13-14, 2017 Solo & Ensemble is quickly approaching! Please note, this year's festival will be at Brighton HS, and not Hartland HS, as it has been in past years. A map to Brighton HS can be found by clicking here. Please also note that due to the nature of this event, students will need to provide their own transportation based on their individual event times. It is recommended that students arrive 20-30 minutes prior to their performance time in order to locate their performance rooms and warm-up. The schedule for S&E events can be found below: Friday, January 13, 2017 Saturday, January 14, 2017 NYC Trip Before we know it, we will be packing and performing at Carnegie Hall! We will be having a trip meeting on Monday, January 23rd to review details for the trip, including rooming assignments, as well as the upcoming rehearsal calender. Please click here for the list of important dates for the trip, or check out the dates on our Google Calendar below, beginning January 2017! *Because this trip and our performance involves students from all three band classes, it is essential for us to hold rehearsals after-school. This enables everyone the opportunity to rehearse with one another without disrupting the learning day by pulling them out of other academic classes. These rehearsals will ensure that we have the best possible performance on one of the world’s most famous stages! Rehearsals were scheduled on Mondays, immediately after-school, in the effort to have the least amount of conflicts with other extra-curricular activities. Please plan accordingly and plan on attending all of our rehearsals.
