We head into November this coming week, and we have two weeks of update in one! Here are the details and updates for the next two weeks and beyond in the band room: Concert Ensembles (CB, SB, WE) Large Brass and Large Percussion Ensembles Students who signed up to join our ensembles for S&E will begin rehearsing soon! Please mark your calendars-- participating students will need to attend all rehearsals in order to have this count for their chamber music project selection.
Community Service Lessons Students, please consider signing up to be a HS mentor for a Hart MS Band student! Mentors will give 30 minute private lessons to MS musicians through the school year, and it's a great way to share a love of music as well as earn NHS Hours, Key Club points, community service hours for scouts, and more. To sign up, please complete this form: Community Service Lessons Mentor Form Cougar Marching Band Our Cougar Football Team is heading to the playoffs! Although we were not able to attend the first game due to our commitment to the Pistons on 10/28, we will attend any future playoff games. Should the Cougars win against Rochester this week, we will go on to play the winner of the Adams vs. Lake Orion game on Friday, November 4th. More details will be announced as they are confirmed. Other dates for Leadership Meetings include February 6th (4:00pm), March 6th (4:00pm), April 10th (2:30pm), May 8th (2:30pm), and June 5th (2:30pm). Students, please mark your calendars- we'd love to have your voice in the meetings! Music Booster Announcements Detroit Symphony Orchestra Trip: Friday, December 2, 2022 Mark your calendars! The SCHS Music Boosters are coordinating a special trip for all SCHS Music Students (Band, Orchestra, and Choir) to go hear the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Orchestra Hall on the evening of Friday, December 2nd. For more information and to register for this awesome experience, click here. Oakland Youth Orchestra Auditions The OYO is looking for musicians! On November 10 and 17, we will hold auditions again for any students that might not have been able to audition due to marching band schedules or are just now deciding they might want to be part of a youth orchestra program. We will offer prorated tuition and need-based tuition aid. Click here for more information.
