SmartMusic Accounts In all classes this week, students will be receiving information to access their official SmartMusic account. These accounts were purchased for every student instrumental musician in RCS, thanks to funding from both our school district along with many generous donations through the RCS Foundation. Each student's paid SmartMusic account will allow them to access thousands of pieces of music, practice tools, recordings, and additional resources throughout the school year. We will be utilizing these accounts regularly for our assignments, both remotely and in-person. Class Meeting Information Approximately 30 minutes before each class meeting, students will receive an e-mail from me through our Google Classrooms that contains our Zoom Meeting link for the day along with any other resources or materials we will be referencing for the day's lesson. All lesson information will also be posted in our Google Classroom and organized by date so that if a student is absent or needs to go back to make up work, everything they need can be easily located. Instrument Repair/Supplies Drive Thru Nights For students needing musical supplies or assistance with a repair for an instrument, A&G Music (along with RCS Music Teachers) will be available to help on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm at the Rochester High School Band Room. Our first night of drive-thru service will be this Tuesday, September 15th, and will continue throughout first semester. Students needing musical supplies (i.e. reeds, valve oil, etc.) are also able to call A&G music ahead of time to order their supplies, which will then be available for pick-up at these weekly sessions. Please contact Mrs. Staniszewski with any questions. Cougars With Everybody Apparel Sale Online shop is NOW OPEN!. All orders are due no later than September 30th. The Cougar Marching Band's Official Show Title for the 2020-21 School Year is "Cougars With Everybody"-- and we are going to prove it! In anticipation to our Spring Season, the Cougar Marching Band and SCHS Music Boosters will be selling apparel featuring the winning show shirt design (as voted upon by our CMB members during our Spirit Week in August) and donating a portion of the proceeds to local charities serving our local communities through the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you are with us in classes, at home, or in spirit, we hope you'll join in with us to help our communities and show that Cougars are With Everybody! MSBOA 2020-21 All-State Auditions Due to the Michigan Music Conference going to a 100% virtual format, there will be no All-State performances in January of 2021. However, while MSBOA fully understands this year's All-State Program is unable to deliver the full experience, students are still to take part in this year's audition process. The honor of being accepted into this program can be a milestone in the musician's life. The experience of setting, working towards, and achieving goals is an invaluable life experience. There are college and university music programs across the country that will use these lists for the purpose of recruitment. In addition, this is a wonderful opportunity for authentic musical growth, whether your classroom is remote or face-to-face. UPDATED Audition Information:
