Welcome and welcome back to all to a year that will assuredly be like none other! This week's update is filled with beginning of the year information and hopefully also answers to many questions. Please know that if you have any additional questions now or at any point during the school year, you are invited to e-mail or reach out. I am more than happy to answer and address anything I can.
Without further ado, let's get this year started: First Class Meeting Schedule Wind Ensemble (6th Hour)- Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 12:30pm Jazz Band (Zero Hour)- Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 7:30am Concert Band (1st Hour)- Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 8:30am Symphony Band (2nd Hour)- Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:30am First Class Meeting Information As of this weekend, any student enrolled in a band class at SCHS has been automatically enrolled in their band class on Google Classroom, and should see their Band Class on their home screen as soon as they log in. If a band student does not see their band class listed on their Google Classroom homepage upon logging in, please let me know. It is advisable for students to try logging in to their Google Classroom homepage ahead of time to be sure they can see their correct classes. Approximately 30 minutes before each class meeting, students will receive an e-mail from me through our Google Classrooms that contains our Zoom Meeting link for the day along with any other resources or materials we will be referencing for the day's lesson. All lesson information will also be posted in our Google Classroom and organized by date so that if a student is absent or needs to go back to make up work, everything they need can be easily located. Jazz Band UPDATED: Jazz Band will be meeting Monday mornings at 7:30am and Wednesday mornings at 8:30am. Our First meeting will be Wednesday, September 2nd at 8:30am. When we are cleared for in-person learning, an updated calendar and syllabus will be provided. Although our class is technically finished in December, I am also looking at scheduling some informal jam sessions/rehearsals through the second semester in preparation for our Cliff Bell’s performance to be rescheduled from last spring. Beginning of the Year Surveys If you/your student have not already completed these surveys, I would very much like to receive YOUR input as I continue to plan for the school year! Please fill out the survey that best fits your involvement (student or parent/guardian) to make sure that no matter what our learning environment might be, we are investing our energies in the best ways for enjoyment and success in our music making. Student Survey: forms.gle/hM1SgqQksqXkMw396 Parent Survey: forms.gle/RzzkdjXxd5L5dZVX7 Equipment Pick-Up: Wednesday, September 9th If you/your student is in need of any school equipment/instruments, appointments for pick-up will be available on Wednesday, September 9th, during textbook distribution. Please be sure to have your Instrument Usage Contract and Usage Fee ready to turn in at your scheduled appointment. (Click here for link to Contract.) If you need to schedule an appointment, please be sure to indicate that on your survey and/or e-mail me to schedule. In spite of the tumultuous world around us, I am excited and optimistic that we can make this different year into a great one. That's not to say we don't have our work cut out for us, however, if we remain true to each other and our craft, there are many great opportunities and positive connections to be made. Please continue to reach out if there is anything I can do for you or your student throughout the year. I'm very much looking forward to help students continue to find enjoyment and success in music, and I can't wait to get back to making great things together! Mrs. Staniszewski Comments are closed.
