October is quickly coming to a close and we are starting to shift gears towards our Winter season, but the Cougar Marching Band still has a few exciting experiences to anticipate in the weeks to come. All the details for this week and the weeks to come are right here in this week's Update:
Concert Ensembles (CB, SB, WE) Congratulations to all ensembles on successful Fall Concert Performances! MSBOA District Solo & Ensemble Registration Students electing to participate in Solo & Ensemble are now able to complete their registration forms. These forms are ONE PER EVENT (not per student). Exact payment for each event must accompany each form. Forms must be completed and submitted with payment to Mrs. Staniszewski by Tuesday, October 25th. Click here to access the 2023 MSBOA District XVI Solo & Ensemble Registration Form Large Brass and Large Percussion Ensembles Students who signed up to join our ensembles for S&E will begin rehearsing soon! Please mark your calendars-- participating students will need to attend all rehearsals in order to have this count for their chamber music project selection.
Community Service Lessons Students, please consider signing up to be a HS mentor for a Hart MS Band student! Mentors will give 30 minute private lessons to MS musicians through the school year, and it's a great way to share a love of music as well as earn NHS Hours, Key Club points, community service hours for scouts, and more. This Week: Monday, Oct 17: Leadership Meeting 5pm, Rehearsal 6-9PM Wed & Thurs, Oct 19 & 21: LAST AM Rehearsals! 6:15-7:15am Friday, Oct 21: Senior Night Football Game (Click for timeline) Upcoming: Monday, Oct 24: Rehearsal 6-9PM Thurs, Oct 27: MB Awards Concert (arrive at 6:15 to Band Room, performance at 7pm in SCHS Gym) Fri, Oct 28: CMB at Pistons! (Click for timeline; Please read below for important details!) Senior Night Game: Friday, October 21, 2022 SENIORS! Please mark your calendars for Senior Night on Friday, October 21st. Senior Night celebrates all seniors in Football, Cheerleading, Marching Band, Color Guard, and Dance Team for their years of service and dedication to their respective teams. Each student will walk onto the field with their parent/s or guardian/s for name recognition and a photo opportunity. For that reason, we need to know who will be in attendance in order to provide the announcer with a list of names. If parent/s or guardian/s are not able to attend, the student will still be recognized on the field and will have a photo taken with Mrs. Staniszewski. Please complete the Google form here ASAP if not already done so to indicate who will be attending Senior Night with your student: Senior Night - October 21, 2022 Questions can be directed to Jane Dick, Senior Night Coordinator: [email protected] CMB at Detroit Pistons: Friday, October 28, 2022 One of our last and largest performances of the season is coming up on Friday, October 28th at the invitation of the Detroit Pistons to perform both outside and on the main floor of Little Caesars Arena! As this performance date draws closer, please read and note the following important pieces of information: 1) ALL STUDENTS need to purchase a ticket to perform for this event. This is required of Olympia Entertainment, as performers will not be given access inside the building without a ticket. Students should purchase the $19 ticket for themselves, which includes a $10 voucher for food in Little Caesars Arena once we are done performing. If you/your student hasn't already secured a ticket for this event, please do so as soon as possible. 2) Friends and Family are encouraged to join us for this performance! Friends and family tickets are available for $25 each. (These do not include food vouchers.) 3) All tickets need to be purchased through this link (link closes on 10/24/22): www.pistons.com/stoneycreekband 4) All students must also complete and sign a release waiver. Please complete one copy per student. Hard copies will be available in the band room. (Busses would have to remain through the full game, forcing students to stay until the end of the event, whereas carpooling allows individual families/groups to decide when they are ready to leave.) Other dates for Leadership Meetings include November 14th (5:00pm), February 6th (4:00pm), March 6th (4:00pm), April 10th (2:30pm), May 8th (2:30pm), and June 5th (2:30pm). Extra-curricular Performance Opportunities MSBOA District 4 Honors Bands The District IV MSBOA Honor Bands Weekend is an exceptional gathering of musicians from across our MSBOA District who come together to rehearse and perform over one weekend with some phenomenal guest conductors. This year's event will be held on Friday, January 13 – Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Clarkston High School. Each student selected after being nominated by their director will be required to pay a non-refundable $60 participation fee. This fee, due by Monday, December 12, 2022, covers Saturday lunch and dinner, guest conductor honoraria, mailing and copy costs, All-District t-shirt, and a participation medal. ALL SCHS Bands students are encouraged to participate! If you wish to be nominated for this, be sure to complete the registration information on page 5 this document and turn in to Mrs. Staniszewski by Tuesday, October 25th. Comments are closed.
