We have another BIG week ahead in the band room with our Fall Concerts for all our Concert Ensembles and our final game for the Cougar MB! Here are all the details for this week:
Concert Ensembles Upcoming Performances:
All band students are asked to report in concert uniforms before 6:30pm on their respective performance dates. A reminder that all students/families are asked to bring treats to share for the post-concert afterglows! For any questions, please feel free to ask Tammy Watson, our VP for Band Affairs ([email protected]) Solo & Ensemble Registration has begun! If you will be participating in Solo & Ensemble, please click here to access this year's registration form. All registration forms and fees are due on Friday, October 27, 2017. The form can also be found in the Band Classes section of our Documents page, along with lists of private instructors and piano accompanists. Students may also find it helpful to remember the following MSBOA rules for Solo & Ensemble prior to registration: Please note: If there are ANY questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Staniszewski! Although there are a number of guidelines, she is able to help you navigate these and provide anything you may need to make participating in Solo & Ensemble a fun, easy, enjoyable learning experience.)
Chicago/Hamilton Trip SCHS Band students will have the opportunity to take a day trip to see Hamilton: The Musical on Wednesday, March 14th. We have a block of 56 seats reserved for the matinee show that day. Please read ALL of the following details pertaining to this trip below: *Of the 56 seats, 50 seats are for students, 5 for adult chaperones, 1 director. *Seniors and Wind Ensemble members have guaranteed seats, should they choose to go. * Remaining seats will be selected by lottery. *All chaperone seats will also be filled by lottery, pertaining to the following guidelines: Adults wishing to attend as a chaperone MUST have an ICHAT on file with Rochester Community Schools, and MUST also have their student going on the trip. *The trip cost is $199/pp. This includes bussing, lunch in Chicago, and ticket cost. Students will need to bring additional monies for breakfast and dinner en route. *Students may use SAF monies for this trip if they choose. *To claim your seat/be entered in the lottery, your check made out to SCHS Music Boosters needs to be submitted to me on or before October 31st. *To facilitate the lottery process, I must receive a separate check for person wishing to attend. (i.e., if wishing to chaperone, I must receive separate checks for each you and your student. *The lottery will happen in early November, at which point a trip roster will be announced. A waiting list will also be populated from lottery entries, should a seat become available. Those who were entered in the lottery but not selected will receive their checks back once the trip roster is finalized. Your work from throughout the season certainly was seen and heard on the field! Rehearsals: Monday, 10/16, 6-9pm; Wednesday, 10/18, 6:15-7:15AM (LAST AM REHEARSAL!) No Thursday AM Senior Night/Last Home Game: Friday, October 20 Senior night is coming up this Friday night, as well as our annual cross town rival game against AHS! This year, there will be two different honors bands in order to accommodate the demand and include more students. Students participating will have the chance to work with highly acclaimed collegiate and high school band directors and work with highly skilled students from throughout our MSBOA District 4. There is a $60 participation fee if selected, which includes all fees, t-shirt, as well as some meals during the rehearsal days. All SCHS students are highly encouraged to participate! Any student wishing to participate in this awesome experience needs to let Mrs. Staniszewski know by Friday, October 13, 2017.
