We're posting this week's Update a little early-- It's another BIG week in "Band"tober! Concert Ensembles have their first performances of the year coming up on Tuesday 10/12 (CB) and Wednesday 10/13 (SB & WE), and the marching band has our last Home Game performance of the year for Senior Night combined with Adams HS on Friday 10/15.
Parent Volunteers Needed! It takes many hands throughout our season to help our events run smoothly, especially in October with fall concerts and marching band events. Health Regulations for Indoor Performances All of our SCHS Bands are scheduled to have indoor performances begin this month: Concert Ensembles 10-12 & 13, & Marching Band on October 28th. A reminder that Oakland County Health Division mandates masks must be worn by all participants and audience members while indoors in K-12 Pubic School Buildings. Livestreams for performances will be made available when possible on our Facebook Group/YouTube channel for those wishing to listen without masks. Additionally, any student musician needing a bell cover and/or musicians mask for these performances is invited to secure this PPE for themselves or ask Mrs. Staniszewski for assistance as needed. Concert Ensembles (Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble) Fall Concerts: Tuesday, Oct 12 (CB) & Wed, Oct 13 (SB & WE) Our first performances for our concert ensembles are happening this week! These special performances are combined with our choir and orchestra programs. Students need to report in their Concert Dress to the band room at 6:30pm on their respective performance night. Performances will begin at 7:00pm and should be complete by approximately 8:30pm. Students are required to stay for the full duration of the performance to set up equipment, be ready for their time to perform, and listen to the performances of all other groups. Concert Dress was distributed in all classes last week. Please make sure your student brings it home to ensure everything fits properly and is hemmed for correct lengths prior to our performances! MSBOA District IV Honors Band- Jan 14-15, 2022 @ Clarkston HS MSBOA District IV is once again pleased to offer three different honors ensembles for this school year: An Honors Wind Symphony, Honors Concert Band, and Honors Jazz Ensemble. All students currently enrolled in a concert ensemble course are eligible to participate and take advantage of this fantastic musical opportunity! Any interested students should review the following information packet and application (NO AUDITION REQUIRED!) Any student who completes the application will be nominated to participate. Completed application pages must be submitted to Mrs. Staniszewski by Tuesday, October 19th, 2021. 2021-22 MSBOA District IV Honors Band Information & Application: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HDxO1dREOauWCY5T3uNfgT3dD2lRUA3l/view?usp=sharing Hawaii 2022 Trip (Re) Kick Off We are excited to re-kick off our Hawaii trip after being postponed from last year! Any students involved in the SCHS Bands are invited to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime musical travel opportunity. We will be traveling Friday, March 25th through April 1st, 2022 (Spring Break) in order to participate in some special musical opportunities as well as experience some of the local cultures and experiences that only Hawaii can provide. Cougars Assemble Marching Band Awards Celebration: October 28, 2022 This special performance honoring the efforts and achievements of our Cougar Marching Band members is coming soon! Please note: this will be an indoor performance. Any student needing to secure a musician's mask and/or bell cover is invited to secure their own from a vendor of their choosing or ask Mrs. Staniszewski if assistance is needed. Extra Performance Opportunities Central Michigan University Honors Band The Thirty-Sixth Annual Central Michigan High School Honors Band will take place on November 13-14, 2021. The entire schedule of activities will take place in our state-of-the-art music building culminating in a performance in the Staples Family Concert Hall at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 14.
