Concert Ensembles (CB, SB, WE) We have our fall concerts this week! Please click the timelines for further details for each performance. We are excited to share all we've been creating in classes so far this year! Wednesday, October 12: Concert Band Thursday, October 13: Symphony Band & Wind Ensemble MSBOA District Solo & Ensemble Registration Students electing to participate in Solo & Ensemble are now able to complete their registration forms. These forms are ONE PER EVENT (not per student). Exact payment for each event must accompany each form. Forms must be completed and submitted with payment to Mrs. Staniszewski by Tuesday, October 25th. Click here to access the 2023 MSBOA District XVI Solo & Ensemble Registration Form Community Service Lessons Students, please consider signing up to be a HS mentor for a Hart MS Band student! Mentors will give 30 minute private lessons to MS musicians through the school year, and it's a great way to share a love of music as well as earn NHS Hours, Key Club points, community service hours for scouts, and more. To sign up, please complete this form: Community Service Lessons Mentor Form Cougar Marching Band We have a BIG week of marching band this week with MSBOA Festival on Monday and hosting RHS on Friday. Please mark your calendars for Senior Night on Friday, October 21st. Senior Night celebrates all seniors in Football, Cheerleading, Marching Band, Color Guard, and Dance Team for their years of service and dedication to their respective teams. Each student will walk onto the field with their parent/s or guardian/s for name recognition and a photo opportunity. For that reason, we need to know who will be in attendance in order to provide the announcer with a list of names. If parent/s or guardian/s are not able to attend, the student will still be recognized on the field and will have a photo taken with Mrs. Staniszewski. Please complete the Google form here by Wednesday, October 12th to indicate who will be attending Senior Night with your student: Senior Night - October 21, 2022 Questions can be directed to Jane Dick, Senior Night Coordinator: [email protected] CMB at Detroit Pistons: Friday, October 28, 2022 All members of the Cougar Marching Band (Band, Guard, etc.) will be participating this this event. Tickets are required for indoor performance. Students should select the $19 ticket package which includes $10 concession credit. Friends and Family attending the performance and game should select the $25 ticket package. Tickets can be purchased through this link. If you/your student are unable to purchase a ticket, please contact Mrs. Staniszewski. Busses are not availabe Come watch and support our Cougar Marching Band as they perform in the Plaza and on court before tip-off, then watch the Pistons take on the Atlanta Hawks! Everyone is invited to shoot a free throw on the court at the end of the game, and students will receive a $10 concessions credit to use at LCA after our performances are done. For every ticket sold, our SCHS Music Boosters receives $5 back; If we sell 100 tickets, the Detroit Pistons will also donate an additional $500 back to our music program! Please mark your calendars for this performance and share with other families and friends! Student Leadership Meetings Our next meeting will be on Monday, October 17th at 5pm. Other dates for Leadership Meetings include November 14th (5:00pm), February 6th (4:00pm), March 6th (4:00pm), April 10th (2:30pm), May 8th (2:30pm), and June 5th (2:30pm). Students, please mark your calendars- we'd love to have your voice in the meetings! Music Booster Announcements Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraiser It’s Pizza!Pizza! time! You’re invited to join our Little Caesars fundraiser. To reach our goal, we need everyone’s help. Click this link to join the fundraiser and create your very own Seller page. After you’ve joined the fundraiser successfully, you’ll get your own special link to send to your friends & family so they can buy pizza kits and support our fundraiser. Every Kit you sell earns $6 profit. This is an SAF Fundraiser; students are able to earn money for their accounts through these sales! The pizza kits get delivered directly to purchaser's house. They are yummy and perfect for busy school/work nights!!! RCS Fingerprinting Open House Convenient fingerprinting services are available by appointment Oct. 12-13 for Rochester Community Schools volunteers who anticipate being overnight chaperones, volunteer coaches or extended field trip assistants during the school year. Oakland Schools will provide Livescan fingerprinting at the RCS Administration Building located at 52585 Dequindre Road in Rochester. Appointments are available on Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here to make an appointment and complete payment for Oct. 12 or here for Oct. 13. RCS volunteers should bring the RCS volunteer packet to their appointment and return completed forms to their school. Extra-curricular Performance Opportunities MSBOA District 4 Honors Bands The District IV MSBOA Honor Bands Weekend is an exceptional gathering of musicians from across our MSBOA District who come together to rehearse and perform over one weekend with some phenomenal guest conductors. This year's event will be held on Friday, January 13 – Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Clarkston High School. Each student selected after being nominated by their director will be required to pay a non-refundable $60 participation fee. This fee, due by Monday, December 12, 2022, covers Saturday lunch and dinner, guest conductor honoraria, mailing and copy costs, All-District t-shirt, and a participation medal. ALL SCHS Bands students are encouraged to participate! If you wish to be nominated for this, be sure to complete the registration information on page 5 this document and turn in to Mrs. Staniszewski by Tuesday, October 25th. Michigan State University Clarinet Extravaganza MSU will once again host it's Clarinet Extravaganza on Sunday October 16th, with special guest clinician Bryan Conger from Interlochen Center for the Arts. The day will include masterclasses, All State / solo and ensemble clinic, and a joint recital. Meridian Winds, our local music shop, will also have a booth and will be happy to help anyone with clarinet maintenance and minor repair needs.
