We are down to the final three weeks of school before summer! Here is this week's update:
Concert Ensembles Inventory ALL school owned instruments and music (jazz, marching, chamber music, old concert music, warm-up books, etc.) are due ASAP! Please be sure to turn in anything that is not being used for graduation so that we can get a head start on inventory. Inventory must be completed before the end of the year before instruments can be checked out for summer/marching use. Final Exams/Assignments Concert Band: All 12 major scales from memory, one octave. (Multiple octaves can be performed for extra credit.) Symphony Band: All 12 melodic minor scales from memory, one octave. (Multiple octaves can be performed for extra credit.) Students may choose to create a video of themselves performing the scales, or may perform them live any time between now and the day of the final exam. Students may also use their circle of fifths sheet, but should not use any sheets on which the scales are printed note by note. NYC/Carnegie Recordings, Pictures, Posters: For those who performed in NYC in April, an email with order forms were recently sent to order replica posters and pictures from our performance. If you have not yet received the ordering information and would like to place an order, please e-mail Mrs. Staniszewski. Upcoming Performances/Events: June 8: Graduation at O'Rena (Oakland University); Rehearsal to be held during school day, busses will be provided for rehearsal. Ceremony will be held that evening; students will need transportation for the evening's commencement. Jazz Band Congratulations on a wonderful first year! At this time, ALL Jazz music and instruments are due for inventory and should be turned in ASAP. This includes students who checked out secondary instruments to use for jazz band and/or chamber music. If you have any feedback for next year, please be sure to let Mrs. Staniszewski know! Some changes we are looking to make for next year include evening only rehearsals and multiple jazz groups so there is something for every interest and experience level. If you haven't already signed up for zero hour jazz band for next year, we hope you'll consider joining us for the fun next school year! Marching Band Marching Band Registration: If you missed our registration night for marching band, it isn't too late to join us for the 2017-2018 season! Please see Mrs. Staniszewski for details. Mini-Camp: Our Marching Band Mini-Camp is coming up quickly! This year's dates are Monday, June 19th, Tuesday June 20th, and Wednesday, June 21st. The schedule for each day will be: 4:00-5:00pm: Leadership (Drum majors and section leaders are required, all seniors are invited) 5:00-6:30pm: Leadership & rookie marchers 6:30-7:00pm: Dinner Break 7:00-9:00pm*: All marchers *On our first night, June 19th, we will bonding over ice cream for the last hour of rehearsal! The Treat Dreams food truck will be visiting us and taking orders from 8-9pm. If you wish to purchase any treats, be sure to bring some money. Everyone is welcome to stay and have fun, with or without ice cream! Pre-Camp Rehearsal/USPBL Performance Our Pre-Camp rehearsal will be held on Thursday, July 20th from 6:00-8:00pm, followed the next day by a performance at Jimmy John's Field in Utica for the Eastside Hoppers vs. Westside Wooly Mammoth's baseball game! Performing students will get into the game for free, and we will be performing pre-game and through the first inning. We are also selling ticket packages as a fundraiser! For $30, each person purchasing a ticket package will get entry into the game, an all-you-can eat buffet, two beverage tickets, autograph/mascot photo opportunities, and more!
