A HUGE good luck to our student musicians performing this weekend for Band Festival and early congratulations on all the growth, progress, and musicianship they've gained over the last months in preparation for this weekend's performances. We still have two more big festivals and events to anticipate in March leading up to our spring break, and our Jazz Band has their big performance at Music Hall in Detroit coming up shortly after. The Concert Band will perform for District IV MSBOA Band Festival on Friday, March 10 and the Symphony Band & Wind Ensemble will perform on Saturday, March 11th. A reminder that volunteering for this event is MANDATORY-- we need all hands on deck to ensure a successful experience for all! Be sure to sign up ASAP if you haven't already. Because of the size and breadth of this event, all SCHS Band and Orchestra parents and students (whether or not they are performing) need to volunteer for this event to be a successful one. This has been a point of pride in our music program for many, many years and as a result, many MSBOA judges request to come to SCHS for the wonderful experiences they've had here in the past for this event. Students, please consider signing up to be a HS mentor for a Hart MS Band student! Mentors will give 30 minute private lessons to MS musicians through the school year, and it's a great way to share a love of music as well as earn NHS Hours, Key Club points, community service hours for scouts, and more. University of Michigan Youth Ensembles 2023-2024 Auditions Greetings from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance! We are excited to announce applications for the 2023-2024 Michigan Youth Ensemble Season are now available! From the Top, a music nonprofit organization most widely known for its radio program on NPR. From the Top will be recording a radio show in Michigan during their 2023-2024 season featuring young musicians from around the state, and is looking for Rochester Community Schools musicians apply to take part in our Fellowship, which includes the radio (and podcast) recording. What is From the Top? From the Top is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the stories, talents, and character of young classically-trained musicians ages 8-18. Selected students will take part in our Fellowship, which includes recording for our NPR radio program and participating in virtual workshops with their peers that explore career opportunities in the arts, audio production, community engagement, and more.
