We are down to our last few Weekly Updates for the school year! Here this week's update:
Concert Ensembles June 5: Graduation at O'Rena (Oakland University) During the day, students will be excused from hours 1-4 for rehearsal at Oakland. Bus transportation will be provided. Should any students wish to drive themselves to rehearsal, a parental note/e-mail must be given to Mrs. Stansizewski by Monday, June 4th. Students driving themselves are not permitted to drive other students and will need to report to the O'Rena at 8:30am. Seniors who will be joining us on the featured performance at Graduation should plan on arriving to the O'Rena with instruments and music, ready to rehearse at 10:15am. For the evening's ceremony, students will need to have their own transportation. It is highly suggested that students carpool or be dropped off at the O'Rena, as parking is quite limited. Students will need to be at the O'Rena by 6:00pm. Commencement exercises are usually complete between 9:00-9:30pm. Parents picking up performing students should plan to arrive around 9:15pm. Inventory All school owned instruments and music not being used for Graduation are due ASAP. After graduation, ALL SCHS instruments, music, and concert uniforms/dresses must be turned in. Inventory will be completed by the end the next week, at which point anyone looking to check out instruments for over the summer/marching band will be able to do so. To expedite the checkout process, please be sure to bring a completed instrument check-out contract (Found here) and $10 instrument usage fee. This once-in-a-lifetime trip will consist of two different performance opportunities: Performing on a Disney Stage in Walt Disney World (as professional performers with Disney Entertainment), as well as working with a studio musician in a professional recording studio environment to record our own film soundtracks. While we are down in Orlando, we will also visit all four Disney theme parks. Any student enrolled in a year-long band class for the 2018-2019 school year is invited to register for this trip! UPDATE: We currently have 41 students and 1 chaperone registered for this trip! We need additional adults to meet our required chaperone ratio, or we will not be cleared to travel. The first 55 people to register (6 chaperones, 49 students) will have guaranteed seats, after which a waiting list will open. In order for the trip to proceed, the minimum number of travelers must be met (6 chaperones, 49 students). Should we hit 80 people (8 chaperones, 72 students) or more, the waiting list will be cleared and anyone who registers will be cleared for travel. To view our tentative itinerary, see pricing and accommodations, and registration directions for this exciting travel opportunity, please click here. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Staniszewski with any questions-- we want to make sure EVERY student who wants to travel with us has the opportunity to do so. The last time SCHS Bands traveled to Orlando, we had over 80 students performing all together- and it was AMAZING! We hope you will join us for this magical trip! Comments are closed.
