We will return to Stoney at approximately 3:30pm. Pre-Festival Clinic Concert: February 23rd Our Annual Pre-Festival Clinic Concert is coming up on Thursday, February 23rd. University of Michigan Jazz Festival: Saturday, February 11th We have our first event coming up this Saturday, February 11th in Ann Arbor for the University of Michigan Jazz Festival. This event is not like our typical festival performances; there is not the pressure that typically accompanies a festival. Rather, this event is an amazing day of clinics and classes for our Jazz Band students to experience! Students will have the opportunity to work with UM professors and grad students in sectionals, on basic improvisation techniques, as well as attend a number of wonderful concerts and masterclasses. Students are asked to arrive to the UM School of Music, Theater, and Dance's main entrance/atrium by 9:30am. Sectionals & Clinics are scheduled to be complete around 1pm, and are then followed by masterclasses/performances to be finished around 5pm. The culmination of the day, the Festival Concert, will be held at the Power Center for the Arts at 7:30pm. All students also get a free ticket to this fantastic concert filled with some world-renowned jazz musicians! If students are able to attend (free; registration has been paid for already by RCS!), carpooling is highly recommended. Much like Solo & Ensemble, there will not be bus transportation for this event and parking is limited. Also, students are encouraged to attend any/all parts of the day! A count of students will be taken at Monday night's rehearsal in order to send them on to UM prior to the festival. If you have conflicts with any parts of the day and have not already notified Mrs. Staniszewski, you will need to notify her at/before Monday night's rehearsal.
