SCHS Music Booster Scholarships: February 18th, 2020 The SCHS Music Boosters will once again be holding auditions for $1000 in scholarships specifically for SCHS Band students. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled in a band class for the 2020-2021 school year. More information can be found by clicking here. Scholarship auditions will be held the evening of February 18th, 2020; participants should have received a notice of their audition time. Concert Ensembles (Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble) Pre-Festival Concerts: Thursday, Feb 20 (CB & SB), and Tuesday, Feb 25 (WE) Our Pre-Festival Concerts are quickly approaching! Once again this year, Concert Band & Symphony Band will share the stage with the Hart MS 8th Grade Band, and Wind Ensemble will host the Hart MS 6th and 7th grade bands. Timelines for these events can be found below: Thurs, Feb 20th (Concert Band, Symphony Band, & Hart MS 8th Gr) Tuesday, Feb 25th (Hart MS 6th & 7th Gr, Wind Ensemble) MSBOA District Band Festival at Clarkston HS The SCHS Bands will be performing for District 4 MSBOA Band Festival on Saturday, March 7th at Clarkston HS! Please see this event's timeline for more information on transportation, performance times, and other important details. State Solo & Ensemble State S&E is coming up on Saturday, March 14th, 2020! As soon as performance times are available, they will be publicized here. For those students who will be performing a proficiency solo (gr 10-12), proficiency information can be found here: State S&E Proficiency Information (Grades 10-12 Soloists Only) Stoney Creek Bands has a tradition of excellence in being invited to host MSBOA's State Solo & Ensemble for the last 15+ years, and we once again look forward to hosting this important qualifying event this year! This is a huge honor to be asked to host, as we will be playing host to over 30 area high schools and their top musicians for this great event. Because of the size and importance of this event, we need all hands on deck to ensure it is successful! ALL SCHS Band Students must sign-up for at least one volunteer spot. We are also in need of as many parents as possible to volunteer, donate goods, or both. Please help us continue our tradition of excellence in hosting this prestigious event! You can help by following the links below: Adult Volunteer Sign-Up Genius Concessions Needs Sign-Up Genius SCHS Bands to Hawaii in 2021 Get ready for the trip of a lifetime! The SCHS Bands will be traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2021. Any student enrolled in a concert ensemble class (Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble) is invited to travel with us. Activities include a clinic with instructors at the University of Hawaii, performing at both the USS Arizona Memorial and Ala Moana Center, along with visiting multiple cultural sites and experiences. Jazz Band Jazz Band NOT be rehearsing this week due to the holiday break and Pre-Festival Concert. Rehearsals will resume next week on Monday night and Thursday AM. (There will be NO AM rehearsal on Wednesday, February 26th!) Marching Band Volunteering: We need YOU! If you have not been able to join us for our meetings, please e-mail me and I would be happy to put you in touch with the students in whichever committee is appealing for you so you can join in the projects they are working on! These meetings are open to ALL SCHS Band members who wish to attend. Those interested in a section leader or drum major position in the Cougar MB need to attend, as your attendance will be noted as a part of the application process in the spring. Extra-Curricular Performance Opportunities North Oakland Concert Band Concerto Competition The seventh annual NOCB Concerto Competition auditions will be held February 20, 2020 at Lake Orion High School. The winner will receive $1,000 and will perform with the band during their spring concert at the Lake Orion High School Auditorium in Lake Orion, MI. Students who wish to apply must meet the following criteria:
