We are down to just two short weeks before Winter Break, but those weeks are packed with lots of excitment as we anticipate a number of performances! Here is this week's update:
CONCERT ENSEMBLES/BAND CLASSES Fifth Grade Concert (Wind Ensemble Only)- Thursday, December 10th: Wind Ensemble students will be excused from 4th and 5th hours on Thursday in order to perform with the Chamber Singers for the Fifth Grade Concert. WE students will need to eat first lunch and then immediately come down to the band room in order to change into concert dress, set the stage, and warm-up prior to the performance beginning at 12 noon. Please remember to bring your concert dress to school on Thursday! WE students should be prepared to perform: Crown Him with Many Crowns, Governor's March, Star Spangled Banner, Spirals of Light, and Sleigh Ride. Small ensembles, please also be prepared to perform your selections. The concert should conclude around 1pm, leaving us with enough time to strike the change and change out of concert dress before departing to 6th hour. Winter Concert- Tuesday, December 15th: Although our Winter Concert is not until next week, please note that we will be having a dress rehearsal prior to this concert. The dress rehearsal will be held the day of the concert, Tuesday 12/15, at 5:30pm. It will be very important for us to have this additional rehearsal in order to make sure we have our seating configuration on the stage ready to go, as well as to run through both pieces with Dr. Skedel prior to performing. Please make note of this earlier rehearsal/arrival time! Chamber Groups Needed! We are looking for chamber groups to perform as interludes for our Winter Concert. If interested and not yet spoken with Mrs. Staniszewski, please let her know. Chamber Groups also needed to perform at the Michigan Music Conference: On Friday, January 22nd, 2016, Mrs. Staniszewski looking for 1-2 chamber groups to perform at the Michigan Music Conference at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI. This conference is the premier, state wide Music Education conference for Michigan; it is a huge honor to attend and perform! Student group(s) selected to perform will be excused from school on Friday, Jan 22nd, and are invited to explore the rest of the conference, including all exhibits and performances, as a participant. Any student group wishing to be considered for this great opportunity will need to express their interest to Mrs. Staniszewski prior to our S&E Clinics on Thursday, January 7th. Large Chamber Ensembles- All large chamber groups will rehearse this week at their respective times. Google Classroom- Your Winter Concert Goals video for Google Classroom is due THIS WEDNESDAY, December 9th.
