More information can be found by clicking here. All compositions (PDFs and Audio files) must be submitted electronically by January 22nd, 2020. Concert Band students need to perform all twelve major scales, one octave, from memory. Students may choose to perform these live or video record themselves (must be done in one take, not edited). Videos or live performances must be completed & received by January 23rd, 2020. Jazz Band Our SCHS Jazz Band Retreat will be held on the afternoon of Friday, January 10, 2020 through Sunday morning, January 12, 2020 at the Embassy Suites in Troy. The student cost of $180 includes all meals, hotel/lodging costs, clinicians, chaperones, and activities for the duration of the weekend. We are also in need of 4 chaperones for the weekend. The chaperone cost for this experience will be $0; all hotel/lodging costs, meals, lodging, fingerprinting, etc. will be covered. Please note: this retreat is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for students looking to be in our jazz band. It will be a special weekend for us to distribute music, work with professional jazz musicians in clinics/sectionals, and strengthen our ensemble skills as we look ahead to officially beginning in the second semester. Particularly exciting this year is our partnership with professional jazz pianist and Postmodern Jukebox member, Jesse Elder! Mr. Elder will be composing a brand new song arrangement for this year's Cougar Jazz Band, as well as flying in from NYC to work with us throughout the semester. His first workshop with us will be on Saturday, January 11th at this year's retreat!! If you are planning on being in the SCHS Jazz Band this year, please click here to complete this form. (Yes, even if you are not planning on attending this year's retreat.) The $180 retreat fee can be paid to SCHS Music Boosters and is due Wednesday, December 18th!
