Winter Livestream: Wednesday, December 16th at 7:00pm (YouTube Premiere!) Our HUGE Winter Livestream will premiere this Wednesday! This Livestream performance, much like our Winter Concert each year, will highlight the great deal of time, effort, and content students have created toward honing their musicianship throughout the semester. A little different from past performances, students were encouraged to make musical contributions based on their individual interests-- we have everything from solos, audio & video mixed chamber ensembles according to safety protocols, new compositions and arrangements, and much more! Also as in years past, we will finish with Leroy Anderson's classic "Sleigh Ride" in a special setting that combines current students and SCHS Band alum in true Virtual Ensemble way-- hope you'll watch, listen, and enjoy! Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel to get updates as to when our Winter Livestream premieres on Wednesday! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYfCmiPWT_Q2e5N5ojsZBvA We'll also be holding a special watch party on our SCHS Band Discord Server for all SCHS Band students-- The link to our server can be found in our Google Classroom page! Instrument Supplies & Repairs Update During the MDHHS closure, RCS Music has made arrangements for students needing repairs to have them done at Annie's Music. Instruments can be dropped there at any time and A&G Central Music will provide 2-day turn around repairs. We hope to resume our RCS Repair Nights, health conditions allowing. Annie's Music is located on Rochester Road, north of Auburn next to the post office at 2646 Rochester Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307, 248-853-5777 After Winter Break... Our next Primary Instrument Work (PIW) Unit will focus on Solo Literature. Students who elect to participate in MSBOA Solo & Ensemble are encouraged to use their PIW work for Solo & Ensemble without needing to find a second piece. Also, students electing to participate in MSBOA Solo & Ensemble will have a number of PIW assignments waived/exempted to focus more fully on preparing and performing for their Solo & Ensemble experience. If you/your student wishes to participate in Solo & Ensemble, more information can be found below. It is advised that students select a solo to begin practicing prior to the Winter Break. Anyone needing assistance in finding a solo is also encouraged to ask Mrs. Staniszewski for assistance as soon as possible. Concert Band, Symphony Band, and Wind Ensemble will continue working on and completing our Chamber Music Composition projects. The final products (PDFs, all parts, files, and audio) will be due on Friday, January 15th. Jazz Band will continue working on their Solo Transcription Projects. Final performances and written transcriptions will be due on Wednesday, January 13th. MSBOA Solo & Ensemble 2021 MSBOA will be holding a Virtual Solo & Ensemble for this year.
