Good luck to our Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble members who will be performing at festival tomorrow, Saturday, March 5th at Novi HS! This coming week promises to be another music filled week, as our Concert Band looks ahead to festival on Friday, March 11, the State S&E Performance window opens next week beginning March 14, and our Cougar Jazz Band continues working toward their festival on March 24. All the details are here in this week's Update: Concert Ensembles (Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble) MSBOA District Band Festival The Symphony Band & Wind Ensemble on perform for MSBOA District Band Festival this Saturday, March 5th at Novi High School, while the Concert Band is scheduled for Friday, March 11th at Clarkston High School. Bell covers are still highly recommended for directional instruments particularly (brass; trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, etc.) If not utilized, it is advised that families/students store musicians masks and bell covers in a safe place should they ever be required again and to avoid needing to purchase them a second time. Travel Update: Chicago Trip Cancelled/What's Next Due to low registration, our Chicago trip for this year had to be cancelled. However, those interested in traveling for next year should mark your calendars for February 2023, as we look to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida! Jazz Band The Cougar Jazz Band meets on Monday night this week as well as our Wednesday and Thursday morning rehearsal times. MSBOA State Jazz Festival is coming up on Thursday, March 24th! Please click here for the timeline of this big performance date. The SCHS Cougar Jazz Band will be performing along side the Adams and Rochester HS Jazz Bands and with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra in a VERY special performance at Detroit's historic Music Hall on Tuesday, April 12th! We are also thrilled to invite back Jesse Elder (Postmodern Jukebox) and our 2020 & 2021 Cougar JB alum to world premiere Jesse's big band arrangement of Pink Floyd's "Money" for this event! There is a $20/person cover charge for this performance. Student performers will not need to pay the cover fee. Alumni interested in joining us should plan on attending rehearsal on Monday, April 11 at 5pm, SCHS Band room to rehearse with Jesse prior to Tuesday's performance. Please note: Alumni joining us will be required to pay the cover fee.
