The instrumental faculty at Oakland University, along with Dennis Glocke, Director of Concert Bands, Penn State will hosting and directing this great performing opportunity. The event will include a shared concert with the Oakland University Wind Symphony.

MARCHING BAND Rehearsals Rehearsals this week will be held on Monday night (9/28) 6-9pm and Wednesday & Thursday mornings (9/30 & 10/1), 6:15-7:15am. Students should arrive 15 minutes early to make sure they are ready to start promptly at our start times. Away Game Pep Band (@ Lake Orion HS)- Friday, October 2nd We have been invited by the Lake Orion Marching Band to come out for this week's SCHS vs. LOHS football game! All SCHS MB students are invited to come to the away game free of charge, play some pep music in the stands, and enjoy a free pizza dinner with the LOMB during the 3rd quarter of the game! All interested students should sign up on the posted sign up sheet on the whiteboard in the band room. We will be wearing casual Stoney gear (sweatshirts, jackets, etc.). Those students interested in participating will need to provide their own transportation for themselves and their instrument, and meet at the front entrance to the football field at 6pm. The game will start at 7pm, and we should be finished around 9:30pm. Red Wings Ticket Orders Due! This Thursday, October 1st, is the deadline to order your tickets for our night at the Detroit Red Wings! This year we will be performing before the Tuesday, November 3rd game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. Any student planning on attending the game after the performance will need to be sure to order a ticket for themselves! Further details can be found by clicking here to access the order form. CONCERT ENSEMBLES/BAND CLASSES MSBOA District 4 Solo & Ensemble Registration The time to get registered for Solo & Ensemble is approaching quickly! The form to register, dates for the event, as well as the list of fees can be found by clicking here. All forms are due Friday, Oct. 30th! Students looking to join one of our large ensembles (large woodwind, large brass, or large percussion ensembles) will NOT need to complete the form above, but they will need to bring in $7 for the registration fee. Instead, students will need to complete the Google Form to sign-up for the large group that can be found by clicking here. Large Chamber Ensemble rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, October 27th for the Large WW Ens, and Thursday, October 29th for the Large Brass Ens respectively, both meeting from 2:45-3:45pm. Google Classroom There are many students who are missing either one or both of our two Google Classroom assignments thus far. If you have a zero for your grade in myRCS right now, that is the reason why. Please complete your assignments ASAP in order to receive full credit before parent-teacher conferences happen in mid-October! Band Camp Quote Shirts: Orders due by Thursday, September 17th, 2015! Our Camp Quote shirts are available to order through Johnny Mac's! You can place your order through this website: https://scbandcamp15.itemorder.com CONCERT ENSEMBLES This year we be utilizing Google Classroom so that each ensemble will have a virtual space through Google to submit assignments, Chamber Music Project materials, as well as a space to ask questions and have discussions. If your student has not yet submitted either of those items (syllabus and form on Google Classroom), they will show up as "zeros" on myRCS until they are submitted. Once they are turned in, they will receive credit. Also on Google Classroom, students will find the form for using a band locker for the year as well as the form to sign up for Large Chamber Ensembles. Before filling out the band locker form, students will need to secure a lock for their locker. Students, please make sure you have completed any of the forms that correspond with the opportunities you are/intend to use. Opportunities MSBOA All-State Auditions are approaching! Auditions will be held on October 31 and November 1. Students selected for these premiere ensembles will have the opportunity to perform in Grand Rapids for the Michigan Music Conference in January along side students from across the state of Michigan! This is a great performance opportunity; students are encouraged to audition. More information can be found below and registration forms can be found in the band room.

Apples & water will be provided during the game. 5:00 pm: Marchers arrive at SCHS and get into full uniform. (Black shoes & long, black socks: no-show socks are NOT allowed. Socks must be long enough to fully cover ankles) 6:10pm: Outside for Uniform Inspection, Warm-Up, & Circle. 6:30pm: Leave SCHS band room and march to the stadium for pre-game performance and halftime. 7:00pm: Game Begins; Game will likely end between 9:30-10:00pm. Wednesday, September 9 & Thursday, September 10: Morning Rehearsals Begin Our regular morning rehearsals will begin on the first Wednesday and Thursday of the school year. Rehearsals will begin promptly at 6:15am on the Stadium Field, going until 7:15am. Please plan on arriving to SCHS around 6:00am in order to be ready to begin at 6:15am. Friday, September 11th: Arts & Apples/ Home Game (vs Bloomfield) This first Friday of the school year is a big one for us. We will be performing for both the annual Arts & Apples Festival as well as a home game. Details can be found on our timeline for both events by clicking here.
