Congratulations to all our SCHS Musicians on your Winter Concert performances! Bravo to all! Wishing everyone a restful, peaceful, Winter Break and lovely Christmas for all who celebrate. We have a lot to look forward to in 2022-- here's what you can anticipate in for our return and in the weeks to come:
Concert Ensembles (Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble) Travel Update: Chicago, May 20-22, 2022 Thank you to all those who completed our travel survey! Based on the survey results, the SCHS Bands will be offering a short (2 night) trip to Chicago on May 20-22, 2022. This trip will be open to all SCHS Band students & adult family members as chaperones. We will be seeing the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as well as partaking in a number of other cultural opportunities- please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information in the new year! Important Dates Here are some important dates to make sure are on your calendar as we head into the new year:
Solo & Ensemble Schedules: The schedule for Solo & Ensemble is now available from MSBOA: Chamber Ensembles Both Brass (Wednesday, 3-4pm) and Percussion (Tuesday, 2:30-3:30pm) will meet this coming week. All participants who haven't already done so need to bring $5 for the group S&E registration and turn it in to their respective coaches. Community Service Lessons Calling all HS Band Musicians! We are re-starting our Community Service Lessons Program with the Hart MS Bands! This is a great way to earn community service hours for Key Club, NHS, Scouts, as well as have fun connecting with and helping a Hart MS Band Musician. If you/your student is interested in being a HS Mentor Musician, please complete this Google Form to have your name added to our Mentor List. Please note: Adding your name and expressing your interest doesn't necessarily mean you will be contacted by a MS student to teach. But, it does mean you are willing to teach at least one student for 30 min/week, based on your and their schedule availability, should you be contacted. Jazz Band Jazz Band Retreat We are looking forward to a great retreat this week! A schedule and details for the retreat can be found here. Student check in will be in the lobby of the Embassy Suites in Troy at 4:30pm. If you have any additional questions, please ask Mrs. Staniszewski. Looking forward to a great time! Music Boosters Announcements Parent Volunteers Needed! It takes many hands throughout our school year to help our events run smoothly. Cougar Marching Band Parent Support for Next Year's Marching Band A successful season for next year starts today! Help is needed to fill some critical positions looking ahead for Fall 2022. Additional Opportunities The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) is thrilled to announce that MPulse Performing Arts Institutes are back, in-person, for 2022!
Institutes are designed for students considering studying these areas in college and for those seeking to connect with SMTD’s renowned faculty. Participants hail from all parts of the United States as well as internationally.
