A Very Happy New Year to all our SCHS Musicians and Families! I hope everyone is enjoying the Winter Break, and finds themselves anticipating 2018 with positivity and excitement! This week’s update is two-in-one, covering the next two week’s of activities in the band room. Please read on for all the details that take us into mid-January and beyond.
Matching Funds We are very fortunate to have had an alumni family step forward to offer our band program the opportunity to raise funds via a matching donation of up to $2,000! If you are willing to help us reach our $2,000 goal to earn the other full $2,000 donation ($4,000 total for our program!), please join us for one of our upcoming concerts and donate to our donation drum, or click here to donate through our SCHS Music Booster's Online Store. Thank you in advance for any donation, big or small! Concert Ensembles January 4, 5, & 8, 2018: Mrs. Staniszewski will be out of the building on these dates. However, the expectation is that all students will continue to participate in musical pursuits on each of these days in Band clssses. The planned activities for each day are as follows:
VASH Saxophone Quartet: Tuesday, January 9th The VASH Saxophone Quartet performance for all three band classes has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 9th! Along with performing, there will also be a question and answer session- be sure to think ahead about any questions you may have. Large Chamber Ensembles Our large chamber ensembles rehearsal schedules are set and posted on our Google Calendar! If you have any questions about which group you have been assigned, please ask your respective group director. Please note: your attendance at these rehearsals are part of your chamber music project grade and are required. If you need to be absent, you must notify your director in advance (less than 24 hours notice is not acceptable), and all music department attendance policies apply. Marching Band Leadership Workshop: Any student wishing to participate is asked to begin by obtaining a copy of the book: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey.
